Lululemon unveils partnership with USC’s JuJu Watkins

A new collection that will empower all women athletes to play with pride and embrace their power.

Los Angeles, Calif, March. 23 – Women’s basketball has taken the nation by storm this season, and at the forefront of it all is no other than USC JuJu Watkins. Very seldom will one hear the mention of women’s basketball without Watkin’s name coming up. She is committed to the game, her teammates, and her mission to empower young women athletes along the way. Just in time for March Madness, Lululemon announced that they would release a women’s basketball collection with the young superstar this week.

Watkins is a freshman at the University of Southern California, like many other great athletes Watkins talent and poise goes far beyond her years. Watkins has a reputation for using her platform to give back to the next generation of basketball players, so the company deemed the young all-star the best face for this collection. Lululemon storefronts nationwide will now feature a women’s basketball collection with warm-up gear, basketball shorts, jerseys, and basketball shoes. Each piece in the collection will be fully customizable online, allowing players to personalize their gear with their number, last name, and slogan of their choice. Watkin’s edit titled Spread Good JuJu will be available for a limited time. It encourages players to customize their gear with sayings that make them feel motivated and powerful on or off the court.

“Women athletes – especially basketball players have been overlooked and underestimated for way too long. As women, we’re taught to stay quiet, to sit back and let the men do all the work and get all the praise, but not anymore. It’s our time to shine and to use our voices to tell the sports world we’re coming harder than ever, and we’re here to stay,” says Juju Watkins, Guard for the University of Southern California.

Proceeds from the collection will go toward basketball programs in low-income areas, allowing talented women to play the game and be discovered in spaces where they would usually be forgotten. As for Watkins’s collection in particular, she has requested that all proceeds go toward her “Good JuJu Holiday Giveback,” where she gifts players from Crenshaw Jordan and Finish First Academy High School with basketball gear and accessories.

When asked about the company’s inspiration for adding a women’s line to its collection, Lululemon CEO Calvin McDonald states, “Our goal is to get people excited and shine a light on the talented young ladies in women’s basketball that have been overlooked for far too long.” With each customized piece, players can be entered in a draw to win courtside tickets to the Women’s March Madness Final Four Tournament in 2025.
